“Huh?”
First he wasn’t sure that
someone was speaking to him
At all. Then, as he looked around he
he couldn’t see where the voice had
come from. Looking down he saw the
source.
“Lost? No. I havent been
lost for a long time.”
A taxi driver, he knew this city like
the back of his hand. Only the question,
from such a small person, out of the blue,
took on an odd metaphorical meaning.
”Are you?”
A brief flicker of annoyance passed over
Iblis’ expression from not being noticed.
Perhaps this man was not used to
children being direct – it would make
sense as this city seemed to be full of
children who were loud and hungry for
attention but they never do say anything
worth listening to.
Of course, that opinion held true for the
entirety of the human race. Iblis didn’t
respond to the man’s answer save for a
slow blink and a twitch of the lips. The
returned question, though, made the
creature shift its head to the side thoughtfully.
“I’m not sure one can be lost
if they have no direction. But
yes, you could say I’m lost. I
have been for a very long time.”
